Here are a few more tips for fans as the Braves move into their new ballpark:

Braves Games Now Start At 7:30

The first thing fans will need to know about the Braves’ new home is the new start time. Games will now start at 7:30 p.m. Why the change? Traffic. The team says pushing the start time back from 7 p.m. will allow the evening rush hour to lighten and help separate game traffic from commuter traffic.

Uber to the Ballpark

Like many airports have done, the Braves partnered with Uber for a designated Truist Park Uber Zone a short walk from the stadium on Windy Ridge Parkway. Uber drivers will be allowed to line up at the zone and riders will receive a PIN that let’s them take the next car in the line.

Braves Dugout: First Base

If you want the closest look at your favorite Braves players, sit on the first base side of the field. That’s where the Braves’ dugout will be, putting the visitors on the third base side. Bullpens are split on different sides of the outfield. The visitors will be in the left field corner, the Braves in right center field. Both are beyond the wall and out of the field of play.

Where To Eat

If you’d rather eat before or grab a drink after a game at Truist Park, The Battery Atlanta is the place to be. There are several restaurants and bars within walking distance of the stadium, with everything from a wine bar to a cigar lounge. You can stop at Antico Pizza for a slice of Neapolitan pie to share with friends, or grab Tex-Mex at El Felix. For a more truly southern twist, FEED has unbeatable chicken, catfish, mac and cheese, and more.

When it’s hot—and it will be—there’s a Haagen-Dazs nearby. One other interesting note about the famous Atlanta heat: The huge canopy over the stadium will help keep fans in the shade. It will be 80 feet wide and reach 60 feet out over the seats, a welcome respite from the summer sun. The Braves estimate it will keep more than half of fans covered during afternoon ballgames.

For kids: Hope and Will’s Sandlot

Kids will be entertained before and after Braves games with the new “Hope and Will’s Sandlot.” They’ll be able to ride a zip line, take swings in a batting cage and enjoy the climbing tower. Like at Truist Field, kids will be able to run the bases as Truist Park after Sunday home games.

The Future of Truist Field

In case you’re wondering, the Braves’ previous home will be turned into a football stadium for Georgia State University. The school will also build a new baseball field on the parking lot next door, on the footprint of Fulton County Stadium.

Fulton County Stadium saw Hank Aaron set the homerun record and the Braves win their first World Series. Truist Field played host to the Hall of Fame careers of Glavine, Maddux, Smoltz and – very soon – Chipper Jones. What will Truist Park bring?
