Alex Samuel Cloud 1966 — 2024 With deep sadness, the Cloud and Kent family announces the passing of Alex Samuel Cloud, on August 13, 2024, in Durango, Colorado, at the age of 58. He was born to Elliot Cloud and Phoebe Kent on March 29, 1966. He was a member of the Southern Ute Tribe where he served nine years on the Southern Ute Tribal Council and three of those years as the Vice Chairman. He was also a valued member of the community and held several positions within the tribe, but most notably he ran the tribes recreation department for several years prior to becoming council member. He was an avid softball player and basketball player, but during his time in the recreation department he organized many tournaments... Richard "Dick" Charles Berkholz 1934 — 2024 Richard "Dick" Charles Berkholz, a longtime resident of Durango, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024 at the age of 90. Richard Charles Berkholz was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 9th, 1934. Dick joined the Marine Corps in 1954 serving one enlistment. Upon separation from the Marines, he enrolled at the University of Missouri where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree of Forestry. This started his long and successful career in forestry starting in Bend, Oregon. He was then led to Montrose, Colorado in 1963 where he joined the Colorado State Forest Service.
